I often observe that technology has progressed a whole lot more than socio-economic metrics and the governance and decision making associated with socio-economic performance.
Modern airlift capacity is awesome ... as exemplified by this article in the e-magazine Arabian Supply Chain.

Of course the economics of heavy airlift capacity is a separate subject. I am a frequent critic of the humanitarian relief and governance community because they seems incapable of having food pre-positioned at low cost for food security and then have to resort to expensive airlift operations to prevent disaster!
